Is Your Frog in Boiling Water?
You’ve probably heard the old metaphor – a frog that gets dropped in boiling weather will jump back out. But a frog placed in cool water where the heat is gradually turned up will cook to death before it recognizes it’s in danger.
Did you know that in your life you may be like that frog who is, well, you get the picture.
The frog literally becomes oblivious to its environment and the boiling water becomes the norm.
Where are we being like that boiled frog in our life?
Here are some areas I’ve noticed and I’d love to know what you’d add to this list:
- Putting up with other people being an energy drain or negative force.
- Thinking a mentor who has more experience is actually right (when deep down inside their advice makes you cringe.)
- Continuing to do work that you are good at and makes decent money, even though you aren’t passionate, because you are blind to your real genius.
- You get used to working 10+ hours a day – and you can’t even imagine working less because you are so used to that schedule.
- Trying to keep up with building the empire that your friends are building, even though you secretly hate what’s happening to you.
I know this list could go on forever…what would YOU add to it? Please share it in the comments below.
P.S. There’s still time to join me for my live four-part webcast “Four Strategies to Thrive with Your Big Idea in the New Millennium.” I’ll be tackling boiling frogs, dirty secrets and new era shifts on the first webcast!

I can really relate to this since I’ve been tolerating so many things for so long that I’ve accepted them as the only way of existing, except when I get some perspective and realize it’s not true. I’ve also heard it put another way. When I did the Landmark Forum, the course leaders said “when you stand in sh*t long enough, you don’t smell it anymore and it becomes normal.” I’m going to be making some adjustments so not to be standing in the sh*t for much longer.
That’s totally it Robert….and so glad you’ll be saying yes to more peace & power in your life.
